Spark 5G available now in Napier and Hastings

5G has now been added to seven of Spark's cell sites in Napier and eight sites in Hastings will be upgraded from 1 November.. This means that customers in the coverage areas can benefit from 5G mobile and wireless broadband services.

5G is the fifth generation of wireless technology. It has the potential to bring super-fast downloads, minimal latency, massive connectivity and outstanding reliability. 5G will open up huge possibilities for business and the way we live.

The main difference between 5G and the existing 3G and 4G networks is that it combines massive data bandwidth and speed, with incredibly fast response times.

To do so, the 5G network must distribute its nodes closer to the customer, building a distributed network architecture rather than a centralised one. This processing power, close to the edge of the network, is the gateway to enabling innovation.

Those who want to experience 5G speeds at home can sign up for Spark's 5G Max Wireless Plus plan. This includes unlimited data, a 5G modem, Netflix and McAfee Security Standard - a landline can be added for an additional $10 per month.

For those who want to experience 5G mobile speeds, Spark now has 22 5G ready mobiles available in store or online. Currently, customers can access the new 5G network on any Spark mobile plan free of charge. 5G services are only available within the 5G coverage areas.
