For our IoT customers all services are managed via communication plans.
Communication plans are configured with services, and then assigned to devices.
For PSN;
The following table shows how these will be represented in a communication plan.
Function | Profile nomenclature |
PSN Domestic Roaming ON QPP ON | Agencyname_PSN_QPP_LTE_Data/SMS/V m2m |
PSN Domestic Roaming ON QPP OFF | Agencyname_PSN_LTE_Data/SMS/V m2m |
PSN Domestic Roaming OFF QPP ON | Agencyname_QPP_LTE_Data/SMS/V m2m |
To change the service associated with a device, you can transfer the device to a different communication plan. Control Center provides several ways to change the device communication plan either manually or automatically.
Before transferring a large number of devices to a new communication plan, it's advisable to first move a small group to assess the impact on service.
The type of HLR/HSS/UDM used and the compatibility between the current and new communication plans may result in dropped data sessions. However, the network attachment will remain active, allowing you to issue AT commands to the device to establish a new PDP/PDN/PDU context.
If the original communication plan of a device is set to send a Cancel Location command upon a change in the communication profile (refer to Admin > Service Admin > Communication Plans > Communication Plan Name link > Cancel Location During Profile Change field), the network will disconnect the device and remove its registrations from the network following the plan change.
Depending on the specific application of the device, it may automatically try to reconnect to the network.
You can manually change a device communication plan from the
When updating a large number of devices, you can also use a batch update file (Devices > Batch Update). For more information, see Batch Updates in Cisco Control Centre
