Find out how to divert your business calls to another number. There are three types of call diversion:
- Call diversion immediate sends all your calls to another number
- Call diversion busy sends your calls to another number when the phone is busy
- Call diversion no answer sends your calls to another number if the phone isn't answered
Use call diversion
Set up call diversion
Set up your diversion numbers. There are 9 slots available to programme, from 161 to 169.
- Lift the handset
- Wait for a dial tone
- Dial 181
- Dial the slot number you want to programme (161 to 169)
- Dial the number you want to send your calls to. Include the area code if the number isn't local.
- Press #
- Wait for the confirmation tone. The tone will be long-short-long.
- Hang up
- Repeat these steps for each slot number you want to use
To change the phone number in a slot follow the steps above to replace it.
Turn call diversion on
- Lift the handset
- Dial the number of the slot you want to turn on, for example, 161
- Wait for the confirmation tone. The tone will be long-short-long.
- Hang up or wait to be connected to the diversion number
Turn call diversion off
- Lift the handset
- Dial 160
- Wait for the confirmation tone. The tone will be long-short-long.
- Hang up
Control call diversion remotely
Charges may apply if you're calling from a mobile or from outside the local calling area of your landline.
Turn on call diversion using Remote Divert
- Lift the handset
- If you're in New Zealand, dial 083215. If you're outside New Zealand, dial +64 830 83217.
- Enter the area code and phone number of the line you want to divert calls from
- Press #
- Enter your PIN. If you haven't used Remote Divert before, the default PIN is 12345. You'll be prompted to change it to a new, secure PIN.
For your security, there are some rules for choosing your PIN:
- It must not contain fewer than 4 or greater than 10 digits
- It can't be the same as your phone number
- It can't be the last four digits of your phone number
- It can't contain three or more consecutively repeating digits (for example, 2223)
- It can't be a sequence of digits, either ascending or descending (for example, 54321)
- When you're prompted, press 1 to access call diversion
- Wait to hear the long tone
- Dial the slot number you want to turn on, for example, 161
- Wait for the confirmation tone. The tone will be long-short-long.
- Hang up or wait to be connected to the diversion number
Turn off call diversion using Remote Divert
- Lift the handset
- If you're in New Zealand, dial 083215. If you're outside New Zealand, dial +64 830 83217.
- Enter the area code and phone number of the line you want to stop diverting calls from
- Press #
- Enter your PIN. If you haven't used Remote Divert before, the default PIN is 12345. You'll be prompted to change it to a new, secure PIN.

- If you're calling from within New Zealand, dial 083215. From outside New Zealand, dial +64 830 83217.
- Wait for the voice prompt.
- Enter your area code and phone number.
- Enter your current PIN.
- Select option 3 to change your PIN.
- Follow the voice prompts to select your new PIN.
