About the speakers

Michael Trengrove
Michael is co-founder of Digital Future Aotearoa, a grassroots response to the huge skills gap in the New Zealand IT industry. Their focus is on making sure all New Zealanders have access to high quality digital education appropriate for the learners’ cultural context. His interest in digital equality was sparked by a three-year period living in the Amazon where access to technology was restricted to a privileged few.

Dean Armstrong
Dean is a founder and CEO of Smooth Sensors – a New Zealand specialist that is using IoT to help create healthier and more comfortable indoor environments for learning, living and working. With a background in semiconductor development and over 20 years’ experience building wireless systems for real world application, Dean brings significant knowledge and insight across layers, technologies, and use cases.

Barbara Noonan
Barbara is Nokia’s Head of Government and Cities APAC. Based in Singapore, her extensive global career has successfully driven sustainable business value across the Government Sector, Safe Smart Cities, Smart Grids, Clean-Tech, Telecommunications and Software sectors. She passionately believes we all deserve to live in a safer, smarter, more sustainable world and is excited about the role that technology plays in achieving this goal.
