Top up a Prepaid mobile

Find out how to add more money to a Spark Prepaid mobile. In the Spark app you can also save your credit or debit card information for future payments or set up automatic top ups.

Top up without signing in

Top up yours or someone else's Spark Prepaid mobile without signing in. You can use a credit card, Online EFTPOS, internet banking (POLi) or a voucher.

Top up using the Spark app

You'll need the latest version of the Spark app.

Sign in with your Spark ID (the same email address and password you use for MySpark online) or register if don't have one. If you need some help, see Set up and use the Spark app

  1. In the app, select Billing in the tab bar
  2. On the Billing screen tap Top up
  3. Choose your top up type, with card or voucher
  4. Select or enter an amount between $10 and $100
  5. Select your payment method or enter voucher code
  6. Continue or redeem voucher to confirm your top up
  1. In the app, select Billing in the tab bar
  2. Scroll down and select Top up another mobile
  3. Enter or look up the Prepaid mobile number you'd like to top up 
  4. Choose your top up type, with card or voucher
  5. Select or enter an amount between $10 and $100
  6. Select your payment method or enter voucher code
  7. Continue or redeem voucher to confirm your top up

Set up auto top up for your Prepaid pack.

  1. In the app, select Billing in the tab bar
  2. You'll see an option to Set an auto top up, if you haven't already
  3. Tap Set up auto top up
  4. You can choose to top up when your balance is low or top up monthly
  5. Select the top up and low balance amounts, or the starting date and the monthly top up amount
  6. If you have saved a payment method in the app, it will already be selected. Tap the pre-selected method to choose a different one. Prepaid top up only accepts credit or debit card as payment methods.
  7. Tap Confirm to finish setting up your auto top up
Change or cancel an auto top up that you've already set.
  1. In the app, tap the menu button and choose MySpark from the menu
  2. Sign in to access your account
  3. On the Billing screen, you'll see the option to manage your existing auto top up
  4. Choose Edit or Cancel auto top up
  1. Choose MySpark from the menu and select the Billing or Usage tabs. 
  2. On the mobile you want to top up, select Top up. 
  3. Choose an amount between $10 and $100. 
  4. If you’re using a voucher, select Use a voucher. 
  5. Otherwise select a saved card or choose a payment method. 
  6. Confirm your top up.
  1. Choose MySpark from the menu and select the Products tab. 
  2. Scroll down and select Top up another Prepaid mobile. 
  3. Enter the Prepaid mobile number you’d like to top up. 
  4. Choose an amount between $10 and $100. 
  5. If you’re using a voucher, select Use a voucher. 
  6. Otherwise select a saved card or choose a payment method. 
  7. Confirm the top up.
  1. Choose MySpark from the menu and select the Billing tab. 
  2. Tap the message about your balance. 
  3. Select the option to set an auto top up. 
  4. Choose an amount between $10 and $100. 
  5. Choose whether you'd like to top up every month or when your balance is low. 
  6. For topping up every month, select the start date. 
  7. For topping up when your balance is low, select the value you’d your balance to drop to before it automatically tops up. 
  8. Select a saved card or choose a payment method. 
  9. Review and confirm your auto top up.
  1. Choose MySpark from the menu and select the Billing tab. 
  2. Select the option to manage your auto top up. 
  3. Choose Edit or Cancel auto top up.

Other ways to top up

 

Using a voucher

  1. Call *333 from your mobile.
  2. Select 2 for top up.
  3. Enter your mobile number.
  4. Select 1 to top up by voucher number.
  5. Enter your voucher number.

Using a credit/debit card

  1. Call *333 from your mobile.
  2. Select 2 for top up.
  3. Enter your mobile number.
  4. Select 2 to top up by credit or debit card.
  5. Follow the prompts to choose an amount, or select 9 to enter your own (between $10 and $100).
  6. You'll go to a secure payment facility to enter your details.

If you're a BNZ customer, you can use the BNZ mobile app to top up any Spark Prepaid mobile account. Download the app from Google Play or the App Store:

Here's how to top up using the BNZ app:

  1. Select the menu, which looks like three lines stacked on top of each other.
  2. Select Top up.
  3. Select the account you want to pay from.
  4. Enter the mobile number you want to top up and set the amount.
  5. Select Top up.
  6. Select Confirm.
  7. We'll send you a text to confirm your top up was successful.

Important to know

  • Prepaid credit expires 12 months after purchase.
  • You need to top up at least once every 12 months, or your Prepaid account may be deactivated.
  • If you have a voucher, check its expiry date. You'll need to add the credit to your Prepaid mobile before that date.
